Glass is a kind of amorphous inorganic nonmetal material, which is generally made of a variety of inorganic minerals (such as quartz sand, borax, boric acid, barite, barium carbonate, limestone, feldspar, soda, etc.) as the main raw materials (appearance detection) and a small amount of auxiliary raw materials. It is mainly composed of silica and other oxides. The chemical composition of ordinary glass is Na2SiO3, CaSiO3, SiO2 or Na2O · Cao · 6sio2, etc. the main composition is silicate double salt, which is an amorphous solid with irregular structure. It is widely used in buildings to prevent wind and light, and belongs to mixture. In addition, colored glass mixed with some metal oxides or salts to show color, and toughened glass made by physical or chemical methods.

Glass surface defect detection can timely, quickly and accurately detect the surface defects in the production process, automatically record the defect location, count the defect area, length and width information, sound and light alarm prompt, view and process, promote the improvement of production process, save production cost and improve the appearance quality of products.

The common appearance quality defects of ordinary flat glass are as follows

1. Wave bar

Wave rib, also known as waterline, is easy to appear in the appearance defects of glass, which is also a serious defect. It will cause optical distortion of glass, and make the observer produce visual fatigue or visual illusion. There are many reasons for wave rib, mainly due to the use of backward production technology and excessive content of chemical impurities

2. Bubbles

If the melting glass contains gas, bubbles will be formed during forming. Bubbles mainly affect the light transmittance of glass (surface detection), reduce the mechanical properties of glass, and also affect people’s vision, resulting in biological image deformation. The main reason is that the purity of raw materials is not enough

3. Lane

This is a very thin and bright continuous stripe on the glass plate, like a line, affecting the overall beauty of the glass appearance

4. Lumps and sand

The abnormal protruding particles in flat glass, the large ones are called lumps or stones, and the small ones are called sand particles. They mainly affect the optical properties of glass and make it difficult to cut the glass
